In the Face of Crisis, Our Team Walks the Walk

Here at Employers Resource, our mission is simple.

“…to make the lives of our clients and their employees easier.”

That’s not just our “talk.” Let me share with you how my team “walks.”

The recent devastation in Texas due to Hurricane Harvey has been truly horrifying, and my thoughts and prayers go out to everyone impacted. Several members of our Dallas and Houston branches were not going to let this stop them from serving our clients who were facing this situation.

Late on August 30th, Mike Watters, our Dallas Branch Manager, called Eric Mann, our National Safety and Loss Control Manager, informing him that we had six Houston-based clients that together receive over 95 live payroll checks that were not going to be able to be delivered by normal methods due to the storm.  

Without hesitation, Eric volunteered to pick the checks up and drive them down to Houston. Enter John Ellison, Regional Safety and Loss Control Manager, who agreed to meet Eric halfway to create our own relay team. They each drove over 100 miles to make the handoff. John then drove back to Houston and personally delivered those checks to the employees.

The dedication displayed by these members of the Employers Resource family is truly inspiring. Their willingness to go the extra mile in order to serve our clients (literally hundreds of extra miles in this case),  perfectly demonstrates the beliefs of service and the spirit of entrepreneurship that Employers Resource is built upon.

The last thing anyone affected by this type of event needs is to also find themselves in an even worse situation because they were not able to receive their paycheck on time. In a life and death survival situation like this, every dollar is meaningful.

I am proud of the selfless thinking and actions displayed by Mike Watters, Eric Mann, and John Ellison. They truly embody Employers Resource’s belief in keeping the human in human resources, and show that when we say our differentiator is service, my team “walks the walk.”
